RESUME
Gynecomastia is defined as the existence of breast tissue in males.
Approximately 10% of men suffer gynecomastia. It´s a reason for consultation whose solution is always surgical unless it is due overweight. In this case there will be no surgical indication but losing weight. Liposuction ever must be performed on overweight people since surgery will not be decisive.
There are two surgical procedures in the surgical treatment of gynecomastia: if the skin is elastic and smooth, ultrasonic liposuction or Vibroliposuction are applied. However, if the breast is down and with sagging (due to thinning), removal of excess skin and adipose tissue is necessary and it will change the aerola as a female reduction mammoplasty.
The procedure is performed by a mild general anesthetic. Hospizalization is not required when liposuction is done.
In the postoperative period it´s necessary to wear a special belt for about 2-3 weeks.
